I was thinking about that song and realized something. If God didn't see a reason to send down His only begotten son, there wouldn't have been a birth to celebrate. And that reason is You and I.
The first gift giver was God and the first gift recipients are you and I. For God (the greatest power)... so loved the world (the greatest creation)... that He gave his only begotten Son (the greatest act of love)... that who ever believeth in Him (the greatest invitation)... should not perish (the greatest wage of sin)... but have everlasting life (the greatest act of love). -John 3:16
God saw that there was a need for someone to pay for the sins of the world. That an ultimate price had to be sacrificed so that we would be redeemed from the hands of the enemy. For without shedding of blood there can be no remission of sin. (Hebrews 9:21) If He didn't act on that need.... well, you can imagine.
No... Jesus is NOT the reason for the season... I AM... YOU ARE...
WE ARE THE REASON FOR THE SEASON.
