Anoint: b: to choose by or as if by divine election
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, it is important for us to remember that He is also the Messiah, meaning The Anointed One. Jesus Christ was God's chosen Son. God chose Jesus to be born specifically for our sins. That was Jesus' appointment.
Thank you Jesus to committing to the assignment.
But God has also chosen us for specific tasks as well for the glory of His Kingdom. I like that the word election is used in the definition of "to anoint" because it shows the importance of the appointment. God chooses us all for different, very important, roles and who are we to deny the most honorable appointment one can receive? I challenge us all to find out what God is calling us to in our day to day lives and to walk in the royal positions we have been appointed to.
