Step Out

The following quotes are from Maya Angelou’s book, “Letter to My Daughter” from the chapter, “Keeping the Faith.” The first one is something that her mother used to say to her and the last one is from a hymn that she wrote. In reading these, I began to think about seeking Godly counsel. It’s important that we all have someone that we can go to get Godly counsel from when we need advice. Of course, we need to first take everything to the Lord in prayer, but I know sometimes I tell God that I also need/want a person here that I can talk to. A person that I can talk to that will take me back to God and to His Word and someone that will hold me accountable. This means that that they will tell me when I am wrong and help correct me, not just tell me what I want to hear.

It’s important to examine your relationships and make sure that you have one or more persons like that. If you don’t or you aren’t sure who to turn to, pray and ask God to bring someone into your life or reveal to you someone that you can talk to.

“I don’t know how to find the things we need, but I will step out on the word of God. I am trying to be a Christian and I will just step out on the word of God.”

“You said to lean on your arm
And I am leaning
You said to trust in your love
And I am trusting
You said to call on your name
And I am calling
I’m stepping out on your word”
