He Did IT

i wonder if while they mercilessly beat him did he feel my very own woe

did he feel the perpetual sting of being unwanted
of being the one discarded
abandoned at the time of greatest need...
of being unchosen?

i wonder if while he limped his way to calvery - the heavy burden of sacrifice laid on his shoulders - did he hear my cry of distress calling out to him?

did he feel the burn of my sin like a whip across his back
the prod of temptation...
...the glee of the enemy
the tormenting guilt?

i wonder if while he hung & bled in darkness did he feel in the deep of his pierced belly the wild ache that pulses through the dark of my nights?

did he falter for a few moments contemplating defeat only to hear my silent plea across the span of time crying for a saviour?

in the moment he cried out to the father did he surrender and release so that centuries later i might have peace?

in the still of the night he whispers yes child, i did it for you .

ISAIAH 53:4

Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him and by His wounds we are healed
